PMF1
Molecular classification
Transcription factor coactivator, Chromosome segregation complex component

Overview

Polyamine-modulated factor 1 (PMF1) is a protein encoded by the human PMF1 gene and functions primarily as part of the MIS12 complex, which is critical for normal chromosome alignment, segregation, and kinetochore formation during mitosis[5][6][13]. PMF1 has transcription coactivator activity and participates in the regulation of polyamine-induced transcription, notably by interacting with NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) to regulate the transcription of spermidine/spermine N^1-acetyltransferase (SSAT)[1][3]. PMF1 also binds to the human COP9 signalosome subunit 7a (CSN7), suggesting a broader role in transcriptional regulation and protein-protein interaction networks[1]. It is implicated in disease processes such as cancer (notably bladder carcinoma), certain neurovascular syndromes, and potentially other disorders tied to cell cycle deregulation[3][7][14]. No direct drug interactions or therapeutic targeting data were found, and it is not currently classified as a primary drug target[3][8][9].
