Immunoglobulin G (IgG) polyclonal antibody (IgG pAb)

Target
IgG pAb
Molecular classification
Immunoglobulin, Antibody
01

Overview

Polyclonal immunoglobulin G antibodies are a heterogeneous mixture of antibodies produced by different B cell lineages in response to an antigen. Each antibody recognizes a different epitope on the same antigen, resulting in broad specificity and enhanced sensitivity for detecting or neutralizing targets. In clinical medicine, polyclonal IgG preparations—such as anti-thymocyte globulin—are used primarily for immunosuppression in organ transplantation and treatment of certain blood disorders like aplastic anemia. These products work by targeting various immune system proteins on lymphocytes and other cells, thereby suppressing immune responses[3][4]. While highly effective due to their broad reactivity, they can also cause side effects such as allergic reactions.
