Polycomb group ring finger 7 pseudogene (PCGF7P) is a non-coding genomic sequence that closely resembles the protein-coding gene for polycomb group ring finger 7 (PCGF7), but has accumulated mutations or features preventing it from producing a functional protein. Polycomb group proteins are core components of Polycomb Repressive Complexes, which mediate epigenetic gene silencing important in development and cancer through chromatin remodeling and histone modification[1][3][5]. However, as a pseudogene, PCGF7P itself has no confirmed biological function or disease association, and is not a therapeutic target. In general, pseudogenes may sometimes regulate their functional counterparts via competing endogenous RNA mechanisms, but no such regulatory activity has been documented for PCGF7P[2][4][6].
