Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)

Target
PEG
Molecular classification
Polyether, Polymer, Excipient
01

Overview

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a synthetic, hydrophilic polyether compound. It is used in a variety of applications, including as an osmotic laxative, a surfactant, and a drug delivery vehicle. Its tunable physical properties based on chain length/molecular weight enable broad utility across pharmaceutical formulations as well as industrial processes. Its safety profile and chemical inertness make it especially valuable where biocompatibility is required.
