POM121 and ZP3 fusion protein (POMZP3) results from a gene fusion between DNA sequences from the nuclear pore membrane protein gene POM121 and the zona pellucida glycoprotein 3 (ZP3) gene. The 5' region of the gene resembles POM121, but lacks the nuclear pore localization motif, while the 3' region corresponds to the last four exons of ZP3 and retains one zona pellucida domain. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing. There is no evidence that POMZP3 is a therapeutically actionable receptor, enzyme, transporter, or typical drug target[1][2][3][4][6][7]. Clarification: POM121 and ZP3 fusion protein (POMZP3) is a chimeric gene product originating from a naturally occurring fusion event.
