Overview

POT1 antisense RNA 1 (POT1-AS1, LOC101928283) is a long non-coding RNA located near the POT1 gene, transcribed in the antisense direction. It does not encode a protein but is implicated in the regulation of gene expression at the RNA level. Recent studies suggest POT1-AS1 inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), marking it as a potential regulator in cancer progression and metastasis, particularly in gastric carcinoma and possibly other cancers. However, its mechanistic details, druggability, and biomarker roles are not well elucidated in current literature[6]. It is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or conventional therapeutic target, and no interacting drugs or safety concerns specific to POT1-AS1 have been reported.
