Potassium channel tetramerization domain containing 9 pseudogene 3 (KCTD9P3)

Target
KCTD9P3
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Noncoding RNA region
01

Overview

KCTD9P3 (Potassium channel tetramerization domain containing 9 pseudogene 3) is a human pseudogene, characterized by its sequence similarity to the KCTD9 gene family, but unable to produce a functional protein product due to disabling mutations. Pseudogenes like KCTD9P3 are generally considered nonfunctional, although some may be transcribed and participate in gene regulation (for instance, by acting as noncoding RNAs affecting their parent genes), but such functions have not been demonstrated for this pseudogene. KCTD9P3 does not belong to any recognized molecular or druggable target class and has no established role in disease or therapy[5][4][2].

Mechanism of action

None applicable

03

Biological functions

Potential regulatory RNA functions (some pseudogenes can regulate parent genes through RNA interference or as microRNA decoys, but this is not established for KCTD9P3 specifically)
04

Disease associations

No established or reported disease association for KCTD9P3In general, some pseudogenes have been implicated as regulators in cancer or other diseases, but there are no reports for this specific pseudogene
