Overview

Kv1.5 is a voltage-gated potassium channel encoded by the KCNA5 gene. It plays a crucial role in repolarizing atrial action potentials and is therefore a potential therapeutic target for atrial fibrillation. It also contributes to other physiological processes, including insulin secretion and pulmonary vascular tone. Mutations or dysfunction of Kv1.5 are associated with atrial fibrillation, sudden cardiac death, and pulmonary hypertension.
