Overview

Kv4.3 (Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily D member 3) is a voltage-gated potassium channel encoded by the KCND3 gene. It is a key component of the transient outward potassium current (Ito), which plays a crucial role in the early repolarization phase of cardiac action potentials and contributes to A-type currents in neurons. Its function is modulated by auxiliary proteins like KChIPs and NCSs and post-translational modifications. Mutations or dysregulation of Kv4.3/KCND3 have been linked with cardiac arrhythmias including Brugada syndrome and neurological disorders.
