Target intelligence / Profile preview

Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily KQT member 5 (Kv7.5)

Target
Kv7.5
Molecular classification
Voltage-gated potassium channel, KCNQ/Kv family, Ion channel
01

Overview

Kv7.5 is a voltage-gated potassium channel subunit that belongs to the KCNQ/Kv7 family. It forms tetrameric channels, either as homomers or heteromers with other Kv7 subunits, and contributes to the M-current, regulating membrane excitability in neurons and smooth muscle cells. Dysfunction is implicated in epilepsy, hypertension, and other disorders.
