Overview

KvLQT1 (also known as Kv7.1) is a voltage-gated potassium channel subunit encoded by the KCNQ1 gene. It is a key component of the IKs channel complex in cardiac tissue, responsible for the slow delayed rectifier potassium current. Mutations in KCNQ1 can lead to Long QT syndrome type 1 (LQT1) and deafness. The channel is modulated by KCNE subunits and phosphorylation, affecting cardiac repolarization and epithelial ion transport.
