Overview

POTE ankyrin domain family member I (POTEI) is a protein encoded by the POTEI gene, notable for the presence of ankyrin repeat motifs which are recognized for mediating protein-protein interactions and regulatory functions within the cytoskeleton. POTEI is predicted to participate in protein kinase binding and actin cytoskeleton organization, contributing to cell motility and axonal development. It is found in extracellular exosomes, suggesting potential roles in intercellular communication, but it is not known to be a classical receptor, enzyme, or transport protein and is not currently implicated as a therapeutic target. Paralogs include other POTE family members, some of which have cancer-testis antigen features or are weakly expressed in specific tissues, but distinct druggability or mechanistic information is lacking.
