POTE ankyrin domain family member M (POTEM) is a member of the POTE gene family, characterized by ankyrin repeat domains and sequence similarity to the ACT family. It is a protein-coding gene predicted to be membrane-associated, and has strong expression in prostate tissue, among others[1][3][5][6]. POTEM is reported as an important paralog of the gene POTEG, but specific protein function, interacting partners, and therapeutic relevance remain undefined. While some gene-disease association studies note altered POTEM expression in prostate cancer and Glycogen Storage Disease III, there is no current evidence supporting its role as a direct therapeutic drug target, nor are there known drugs that target this gene or protein[3]. POTEM is predominantly studied in the context of gene expression and bioinformatics association, rather than as an established molecular target for therapy[1][3][6].
