PPP1CB divergent transcript (PPP1CB-DT) is a noncoding RNA (ncRNA) transcribed in the direction opposite to the nearby PPP1CB gene, which encodes a catalytic subunit of protein phosphatase 1. PPP1CB-DT is classified as a divergent lncRNA and has been found in transcriptomic modules enriched for genes involved in myofibril assembly and muscle contraction. Although its precise biological function is not defined, such divergent ncRNAs may affect the expression of adjacent protein-coding genes (like PPP1CB) either by cis-regulatory mechanisms or through effects on local chromatin structure[3][4].
