Overview

PPP1R26 antisense RNA 1 (PPP1R26-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene classified as antisense to PPP1R26 (Protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 26). PPP1R26-AS1 is implicated in the regulation of gene expression via non-coding RNA mechanisms, particularly by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), interacting with microRNAs such as miR-1226-3p. Elevated levels of PPP1R26-AS1 have been observed in breast cancer tissues and are associated with increased migration, invasion, and proliferation of tumor cells, indicating a potential role in cancer progression and prognosis. However, it is not a protein-coding gene, receptor, enzyme, or typical therapeutic drug target; rather, its significance is primarily in gene regulation and potential biomarker applications[1][4][5].
