01

Overview

PPP1R9A antisense RNA 1 (PPP1R9A-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed in the antisense orientation relative to the PPP1R9A gene on human chromosome 7q21.3[1][4][9]. As an lncRNA, PPP1R9A-AS1 does not code for protein and its function remains largely uncharacterized. By analogy to other antisense lncRNAs, it may have regulatory effects on the expression, stability, or processing of its overlapping sense gene, PPP1R9A, which encodes Neurabin-1, a protein involved in actin cytoskeleton organization and neuronal signaling[1][3][4][5][7]. Direct evidence for disease involvement, druggability, or function-specific annotation in humans for PPP1R9A-AS1 is lacking as of the current data.
