PRAC2 small nuclear protein (PRAC2) is a gene highly expressed in the prostate, rectum, colon, and testis; minimal expression is seen in placenta and leukocytes[1][3][6]. The gene is annotated as potentially encoding either a small nuclear protein or a non-coding RNA; alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants[3][6]. PRAC2 is part of a group of genes with tissue-enhanced or tissue-restricted expression, but its molecular function remains unclear—it may have roles in cell biology or tissue development, particularly in the prostate[4][1]. There is weak evidence suggesting PRAC2 might be implicated in cancer biology, most notably prostate cancer, but no definitive proof exists for a direct role in disease pathogenesis or as a therapeutic target[4][5].
