Overview

PRAME family member 1 (PRAMEF1) is a protein-coding gene and a member of the PRAME (Preferentially Expressed Antigen in Melanoma) family, which is primarily known as a cancer-testis antigen. PRAMEF1 is expressed in various human cancers and may also function in reproductive tissues during development, but its precise biological roles remain unclear. Alternative promoter usage creates two transcript variants encoding different protein isoforms. The PRAME family is characterized by leucine-rich repeat (LRR) motifs, with possible involvement in protein-protein interactions. Although the broader PRAME family has been implicated in regulation of retinoic acid signaling and immune response in cancer, direct functional, mechanistic, and drug interaction data for PRAMEF1 are currently lacking. PRAMEF1 is often studied in tumor profiling and may have utility as a cancer biomarker, but it is not an established therapeutic target[1][3][4][5].
