Overview

PRAME family member 6 (PRAMEF6) is a human protein that serves as a substrate-recognition component of a Cullin-2 (CUL2)-RING E3 ubiquitin ligase complex (CRL2). This complex mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of specific target proteins, such as truncated selenoproteins produced by failed UGA/Sec decoding. PRAMEF6 belongs to the PRAME (Preferentially expressed antigen in melanoma) gene family, which comprises cancer/testis antigens that are transcriptional regulators, play important roles in germline development, embryonic stem cell pluripotency, and gametogenesis. While PRAMEF6 itself is not a classic drug target such as a receptor or enzyme, it is functionally and structurally relevant in cancer and reproductive biology, and its family is implicated in both tumor immunology and spermatogenesis.
