PRAME family member 9 (PRAMEF9) is a gene encoding a predicted leucine-rich repeat (LRR) protein and a member of the PRAME multigene family, which is mostly characterized by their homologous cancer-testis antigens and roles in transcriptional regulation via retinoic acid receptor (RAR) repression in cancer[1][5]. While PRAME itself is a potent cancer/testis antigen and transcriptional repressor with clinical implications in oncology, there is currently no direct evidence that PRAMEF9 shares these functions or is expressed at comparable levels in tumors or normal tissues. PRAMEF9 has been detected at the transcript level in certain stem, germ, or cancer cells, but its biological function, protein expression, and cellular activity remain uncharacterized[2]. There is no experimental data showing PRAMEF9 interacts with drugs, serves as a disease marker, or constitutes a validated therapeutic target. Its classification and naming are derived from homology and gene family organization rather than validated mechanistic function.
