Target intelligence / Profile preview

Pre-mRNA processing factor 31 (PRPF31)

Target
PRPF31
Molecular classification
RNA-binding protein, Splicing factor
01

Overview

Pre-mRNA processing factor 31 (PRPF31) is a critical component of the spliceosome, the large ribonucleoprotein complex responsible for removing introns from pre-messenger RNA (pre-mRNA) during mRNA splicing. Mutations in PRPF31 cause autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa type 11 (RP11), a degenerative retinal disease.
