Pregnancy-specific beta-1-glycoprotein 11 (PSG11) is one of several highly glycosylated proteins primarily produced by the placental syncytiotrophoblast during pregnancy[5][6]. PSG11 belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen family (CEA/PSG), which functions mainly as immunomodulators helping protect the fetus by modulating maternal immune responses[1][5][6]. PSGs as a family have also been implicated in promoting angiogenesis at the maternal-fetal interface and regulating trophoblast function, but most research focuses on the closely related PSG1, with specific functional studies on PSG11 lacking. Abnormal PSG expression has been linked to pregnancy disorders; PSG11 variants may be associated with conditions such as Rh isoimmunization and gestational choriocarcinoma[5]. There are no known drugs targeting PSG11 and no established usage as a therapeutic target or a clinical biomarker distinct from other PSGs.
