Pregnane glycosides are a class of naturally occurring steroidal glycosides characterized by a pregnane (C21) skeleton linked to one or more sugar moieties. They are found in plants, particularly in the Apocynaceae and Asclepiadaceae families. These compounds exhibit a wide range of pharmacological activities including antidiabetic, anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial effects. Their mechanism of action includes appetite suppression via CNS modulation and inhibition of adrenal steroidogenesis.
