Presynaptic Glutamate Receptors (None)

Target
None
Molecular classification
Ionotropic Glutamate Receptor (iGluR), AMPA Receptor, NMDA Receptor, Kainate Receptor, Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor (mGluR), G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)
01

Overview

Presynaptic glutamate receptors are glutamate receptors located on the presynaptic terminals of neurons. They modulate neurotransmitter release and synaptic plasticity, adding complexity to glutamatergic signaling in the central nervous system. These include ionotropic (AMPA, NMDA, and kainate) and metabotropic (mGluR Groups II & III) receptors. They regulate neurotransmitter release, synapse plasticity, and can be implicated in neurological disorders.
