Overview

Prickle-like protein 4 (PRICKLE4) is a member of the LIM domain protein family, characterized by the presence of two LIM domains and a PET domain. The protein is predicted to localize mainly to the nucleus and may be involved in pathways relevant to embryonic patterning and cancer cell differentiation. Expression profiling suggests widespread RNA presence across tissues and possible upregulation in certain tumor types, notably breast cancer. While interactions with molecular networks affecting cell growth and genomic stability are postulated, there is limited direct experimental evidence regarding its specific biological roles. Unlike other Prickle family members, PRICKLE4 may not participate in classic planar cell polarity signaling and is not considered a canonical Prickle protein by some researchers. Functional studies are still required to define its exact role in development, cancer, or other disease settings. If more specific structural, functional, or clinical data become available, these fields can be updated accordingly.
