PRKAR2B antisense RNA 1 (PRKAR2B-AS1) is an antisense long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the region opposite to the *PRKAR2B* gene locus. Antisense lncRNAs commonly function by binding to complementary mRNA from the sense gene, modulating its stability, translation, chromatin state, or transcriptional activity. There is no direct evidence in current biomedical literature establishing PRKAR2B-AS1 as a therapeutic target, disease biomarker, or druggable entity. Its function is presumed to involve classic cis-acting antisense RNA regulation, such as influencing *PRKAR2B* gene expression. The *PRKAR2B* coding gene encodes a regulatory subunit of protein kinase A involved in cell signaling, but this is distinct from the antisense transcript. Most references to PRKAR2B, as a disease gene or drug target, are about the protein-coding gene, not the antisense RNA. The sequence, function, and disease association of PRKAR2B-AS1 itself are not well established in public databases or recent literature.
