PRKCE antisense RNA 1 (PRKCE-AS1) is a predicted or annotated long non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the PRKCE protein-coding gene. No definitive evidence currently establishes its biological function, disease relevance, or therapeutic utility. Most publicly available gene and lncRNA databases describe PRKCE-AS1 based on its genomic context, and functional literature is lacking. By analogy to characterized antisense lncRNAs, PRKCE-AS1 could theoretically play roles in regulation of the PRKCE gene or related pathways, but no experimental data for this lncRNA have been published. The search also returned results on similar-sounding lncRNAs (such as PRKCQ-AS1 or PRKAG2-AS1), which are functionally characterized and involved in cancer phenotypes, but these cannot be assumed to reflect PRKCE-AS1 biology.
