Overview

PRKCH antisense RNA 1 (PRKCH-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the opposite strand of the PRKCH (Protein kinase C eta) gene locus[4][7]. Antisense RNAs such as PRKCH-AS1 are generally involved in the regulation of gene expression at the RNA level and may exert their influence via direct base-pairing with the sense (coding) transcript, altering transcription initiation, elongation, splicing, or translation, and can affect chromatin structure or interact with other regulatory proteins[6]. However, there are currently no known biological functions, disease associations, or drug interactions specifically attributed to PRKCH-AS1 itself in the scientific literature or databases. There is also no evidence for its status as a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, nor is it recognized as a biomarker or subject to clinical safety concerns[4][7]. Technical databases such as GeneCards and BioGPS confirm its annotation as a noncoding RNA without assigned disease or function[4][7]. Note: The target as presented (PRKCH-AS1) is not a drug target or receptor but is a gene locus encoding a noncoding antisense RNA. No clear role as a therapeutic target exists, and no aliases beyond the spelled PRKCH-AS1 are documented. If referring to actual PRKCH protein kinase (a druggable kinase), see information for "Protein kinase C eta" instead[1][5].
