Overview

PRKCZ antisense RNA 1 (PRKCZ-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA implicated in lung adenocarcinoma where its expression is significantly upregulated in tumor tissues and cell lines. Knockdown experiments show that PRKCZ-AS1 promotes proliferation and migration, and inhibits apoptosis in cancer cells. Mechanistically, PRKCZ-AS1 acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by binding and sequestering miR-766-5p, leading to upregulated MAPK1 expression, a pathway that enhances oncogenic processes in lung adenocarcinoma. Its aberrant regulation is associated with cancer biology, but PRKCZ-AS1 is not currently targeted by any known drugs. It may serve as a disease biomarker, but further validation is required for clinical use.
