Target intelligence / Profile preview
PRKX pseudogene 1 (PRKXP1) is a non-coding genomic DNA sequence highly homologous to the functional PRKX kinase gene. Due to frameshift or nonsense mutations, it lacks protein-coding ability and does not encode functional products such as enzymes or receptors. Pseudogenes like PRKXP1 are generally considered biologically inert but may have occasional gene regulatory roles. PRKXP1 is not regarded as a therapeutic target, and there is no evidence it interacts with drugs or acts as a biomarker. If the intended molecule was PRKX protein kinase, which is involved in renal epithelial morphogenesis and cellular differentiation, this would be a distinct and functional entity. PRKXP1’s listing as a molecular target is likely in error or based on a misunderstanding of its gene annotation status. If your intent was to query the protein kinase PRKX, please clarify, as PRKXP1 is a pseudogene and not a druggable target.
