Overview

Probable fibrosin-1 (FBRS) is a protein secreted by activated lymphocytes and classified as a lymphokine, with probable growth factor activity. It is predicted to stimulate proliferation of fibroblasts and contributes to myofibroblast accumulation during wound healing, suggesting a putative role in scarring and fibrotic processes. The gene is protein-coding and associated with several conditions via gene-gene association studies; however, its mechanism and clinical significance are poorly characterized and not yet targeted by approved drugs.
