Probable G protein-coupled receptor 148 (GPR148) is a member of the class A (rhodopsin-like) G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family, encoded by the GPR148 gene on chromosome 2q21.1[2][6]. It is a seven-transmembrane domain protein of 347 amino acids, primarily expressed in the human nervous system and testis, but also identified in several cancer types, notably prostate cancer[2][3][6]. GPR148 is considered an orphan receptor with no confirmed endogenous ligand, although prostanoids have been suggested as potential ligands[4]. Research indicates that GPR148 may be a candidate biomarker for prostate cancer and be involved in the pathogenesis of developmental delay, intellectual disability, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and other neurobehavioral abnormalities due to chromosomal deletions encompassing its locus[2][6]. As of current knowledge, no approved drugs are known to specifically interact with or modulate GPR148 function[6].
