MCF2L2, also known as probable guanine nucleotide exchange factor MCF2L2, is a member of the Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor (RhoGEF) family, classified as an enzyme that catalyzes the activation of Rho family GTPases by promoting the exchange of GDP for GTP[3][7]. Rho family GTPases act as molecular switches in a variety of intracellular signaling pathways affecting cytoskeletal reorganization, cell migration, adhesion, morphogenesis, and neuronal development[2][4]. As with other GEFs, MCF2L2 likely has a role in modulating cell behavior via activation of Rho GTPases, although specific substrates or detailed mechanistic studies for MCF2L2 are limited. While GEFs can be implicated in cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders (by analogy with characterized family members), direct therapeutic targeting or drug interactions for MCF2L2 itself are not well documented[6][7].
