Overview

Probable inactive 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase-like protein 2 (ACCSL) is a homolog of the enzyme 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase, which in plants catalyzes the conversion of S-adenosylmethionine to the ethylene precursor ACC via a lyase reaction. However, ACCSL itself is designated as "probable inactive" based on sequence or functional annotation, meaning it lacks catalytic activity and does not perform the biochemical role associated with its active counterparts. In humans and most non-plant systems, this homolog is not implicated in any physiological process, disease, or therapeutic target class.
