Overview

PPIL6 encodes a protein structurally similar to cyclophilin-type peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerases, which in general accelerate protein folding by catalyzing the isomerization of peptide bonds at proline residues. Unlike other PPIases, PPIL6 is believed to be enzymatically inactive, with no detectable peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase activity. It is predicted, based on bioinformatic data, to have roles in transcriptional regulation, but these functions remain to be experimentally validated. PPIL6 is not currently associated with any disease roles nor targeted by any therapeutic drugs[3][8][2][4].
