Progesterone Receptor B (PR-B)

Target
PR-B
Molecular classification
Nuclear hormone receptor, Transcription factor, Steroid hormone receptor
01

Overview

Progesterone receptor B (PR-B) is a full-length nuclear hormone receptor acting primarily as an activator for progesterone-mediated gene expression. It differs structurally from its shorter counterpart PRA due to an extra N-terminal region conferring unique regulatory properties. Its activity underlies many normal reproductive processes—and imbalances between its expression relative to other isoforms contribute significantly to pathologies such as certain cancers.
