Programmed cell death 2 pseudogene 2 (PDCD2P2)

PDCD2 pseudogene 2 (PDCD2P2) is a human pseudogene related to the protein-coding gene Programmed cell death 2 (PDCD2). While the functional PDCD2 gene encodes a nuclear protein involved in regulation of cell proliferation and apoptosis, PDCD2P2 itself does not produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes are generally regarded as non-functional remnants of once-active genes and are not considered druggable therapeutic targets or biomarkers[7]. There is no evidence suggesting PDCD2P2 has a direct or indirect role as a pharmacological target, nor are there known safety concerns specific to this gene.
