Programmed cell death ligand 2 (PD-L2)

Target
PD-L2
Molecular classification
Type I transmembrane protein, B7 protein family, Immune checkpoint receptor ligand
01

Overview

Programmed cell death ligand 2 (PD-L2) is a type I transmembrane protein and a member of the B7 protein family. It acts as a negative regulator of T cell activity by binding to its receptor, programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), inhibiting T-cell proliferation and cytokine production. PD-L2 plays a crucial role in maintaining immune tolerance and preventing autoimmunity. It is expressed on antigen-presenting cells and some T cells. In the context of cancer, PD-L2 expression on tumor cells or within the tumor microenvironment can contribute to immune evasion. Therapeutic antibodies targeting the PD-1/PD-L1/PD-L2 pathway are used in cancer immunotherapy.
