Target intelligence / Profile preview
Programmed cell death protein 1 delta 42 isoform (Δ42PD1) is an alternatively spliced variant of PD-1. Unlike canonical PD-1, Δ42PD1 does not bind to PD-L1 or PD-L2 and instead promotes inflammation through the induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is expressed in activated T cells, B cells, NKT cells, and monocytes, and is upregulated in pathological conditions. It does not deliver classical inhibitory signals. It has potential applications in modulating immune responses during infection or vaccination strategies.
Induction of pro-inflammatory cytokine release (IL-β, IL-6, TNF)
