Overview

Progression-free survival (PFS) is **not a molecule, receptor, or therapeutic target**. Instead, it is a clinical trial endpoint commonly used in oncology and other disease areas to measure the length of time during and after treatment that a patient lives with the disease without it worsening[1][3][6]. Specifically, PFS is defined as the time from random assignment in a clinical trial to either disease progression or death from any cause[3]. It serves as an important surrogate endpoint for overall survival (OS) in many cancer trials because results can be obtained sooner than waiting for OS data[1][4]. The definition of "progression" typically involves radiologic imaging or other objective criteria such as tumor markers. PFS does not represent a biological entity and therefore cannot be classified within molecular families nor directly targeted by drugs[1][3][6]. **Note:** There is something incorrect about using "Progression-free survival" as a target molecule/receptor; it should not be listed as such. It is an outcome measure rather than a druggable biological entity[1][3][6].
