Progression-free survival (PFS)

Progression-free survival (PFS) is **not a molecule, receptor, or therapeutic target**. Instead, it is a clinical trial endpoint commonly used in oncology and other disease areas to measure the length of time during and after treatment that a patient lives with the disease without it worsening[1][3][6]. Specifically, PFS is defined as the time from random assignment in a clinical trial to either disease progression or death from any cause[3]. It serves as an important surrogate endpoint for overall survival (OS) in many cancer trials because results can be obtained sooner than waiting for OS data[1][4].
