Prolactin-releasing peptide (PrRP)

Prolactin-releasing peptide (PrRP) is a neuropeptide hormone primarily known for its role in stimulating the release of prolactin from the anterior pituitary, acting through binding to the GPR10 (prolactin-releasing peptide receptor)[6][7]. PrRP is also involved in the regulation of appetite (anorexigenic effects), energy expenditure, the neuroendocrine stress response, and may exhibit neuroprotective and cardiovascular regulatory effects[2][4][5]. It is widely distributed in the central nervous system, especially the hypothalamus and brainstem, as well as several peripheral tissues. While PrRP was initially investigated as a candidate "prolactin-releasing hormone," it is now considered part of a broader family of RF-amide peptides with diverse physiological roles.
