Proline rich nuclear receptor coactivator 2 pseudogene 1 (PNRC2P1) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene derived from the functional PNRC2 gene. Pseudogenes such as PNRC2P1 are characterized by DNA sequence homology to their parent gene, but they are unable to be translated into functional proteins due to disabling mutations or lack of regulatory elements[1][3]. Most pseudogenes are biological "junk DNA," though occasionally, transcripts from pseudogenes can play regulatory roles. No specific biological function, disease association, or therapeutic relevance has been described for PNRC2P1[1][3].
