Overview

Proline-rich protein 18 (PRR18) is a protein-coding gene, most prominently expressed in the central nervous system, where it plays a role in neuronal development, particularly in mediating neuronal differentiation and neurite outgrowth during brain development. It is a small protein (117–297 amino acids) characterized by a high content of proline residues, but its precise biochemical function remains largely uncharacterized. There is no evidence to classify PRR18 as a classical therapeutic target (such as receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.), and there are no known drugs directly targeting this protein. Although it is associated with neuronal processes, well-defined links to specific diseases or safety concerns have not been reported in current major databases[1][2][3][4][7].
