Overview

Proline-rich protein 20D (PRR20D) is a member of the proline-rich protein 20 family, which includes several closely related proteins (PRR20A, PRR20B, PRR20C, PRR20E). Proteins in this family are characterized by a high content of proline residues. Proline-rich motifs are known to mediate protein-protein interactions by adopting polyproline type II helical conformations, which can serve as recognition sites for cellular signaling domains (e.g., SH3, WW, and EVH1 domains)[1][2]. However, despite the biochemical relevance of proline-rich motifs within the proteome, there is currently no evidence that PRR20D itself has a well-established biological function, therapeutic relevance, or established role in human disease. PRR20D is not classified as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other common drug target class, and there are no known drugs or mechanisms of action specifically associated with this protein. Based on available data, PRR20D is not considered a therapeutic target, and significant information regarding its functional or clinical relevance is lacking.
