Overview

Proline-rich protein 20E is a member of a cluster of five genes at chromosome 13q21.1 encoding proline-rich proteins, with several predicted motifs similar to those found in dopamine D4 receptors but lacking a defined or characterized biological function[2]. As of now, this protein is not recognized as a therapeutic target, and there are no data describing its role in disease, druggability, or as a functional biomarker[2]. Studies of proline-rich proteins in general suggest possible involvement in protein-protein interactions and cellular signaling, but these findings have not been linked specifically to PRR20E[4][5]. PRR20E is a little-studied gene with no experimental evidence tying it to known signaling pathways, pathological processes, or molecular functions beyond its high proline content and clustered genomic organization[2]. Proline-rich proteins as a group may contribute to protein-protein interactions, cytoskeletal regulation, and other cellular processes, but there is no direct evidence for these functions in PRR20E[4][5]. No literature or databases currently designate PRR20E as a disease gene or therapeutic target.
