Overview

Proline-rich protein 23C (PRR23C) is a human protein encoded by the PRR23C gene located on chromosome 3q23, predominantly and specifically expressed in the testis. It is 262 amino acids in length and highly rich in proline residues, featuring a conserved domain of unknown function (DUF2476) that spans most of the protein. Its nuclear localization is predicted, and the gene is part of the PRR23 family, alongside paralogs PRR23A and PRR23B. While it is conserved in mammals and likely plays a role in testis/male reproductive biology, there is presently no experimental evidence of involvement in human disease, drug interactions, or use as a therapeutic target or biomarker. The function of PRR23C remains uncharacterized, and it is not currently regarded as a therapeutic target.
