Proline-rich protein 36 (PRR36)

Proline-rich protein 36 (PRR36) is a large protein of currently unknown function, characterized by internal regions of low complexity sequence and encoded by the PRR36 gene located on human chromosome 19[1][2][7]. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants, and conservation of the protein-coding transcript is observed between human and mouse[1][2][6]. There is currently no published molecular function or clear involvement in defined biological processes, and it is not considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or known druggable entity[6]. The only disease association noted is with arteriolosclerosis, but there is no mechanistic link or validated biomarker role described[2].
