Prophylactic vaccine antigens represent a broad category of exogenous substances, typically derived from pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, or parasites, designed to stimulate a protective immune response in a host. The primary clinical application is the prevention of infectious diseases, and the specific molecular target is the pathogen itself rather than a discrete host molecule (ChEMBL, 2024).
