The term "Proprietary target" is a generic placeholder used in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to refer to a biological molecule—such as a protein, enzyme, or receptor—that a company has identified as a potential site for therapeutic intervention but has not yet publicly disclosed [1, 6].
