Overview

Proprietary tumor antigen B+ is a specific tumor-associated antigen (TAA) identified by BioNTech as part of its FixVac platform for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is one of the six mRNA-encoded antigens included in the BNT116 vaccine cocktail, designed to trigger a robust and specific immune response against malignant cells. While the exact molecular identity of B+ is often kept proprietary in early clinical documentation, it is selected based on its high prevalence in NSCLC tumors and low expression in healthy tissues. In clinical trials, such as LuCa-MERIT-1, BNT116 (containing B+) is evaluated both as a monotherapy and in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors like cemiplimab. The goal of targeting this antigen is to overcome tumor immune evasion and induce long-lasting protective immunity in patients with advanced or metastatic lung cancer.
